Fantasy Football Gameweek Guide 17/04/08

I now bring you this weeks Fantasy Football gameweek guide a day earlier due to the match between Everton and Chelsea being brought forward to tonight, for the sake of television coverage.

There are some really good match-ups this week, which is great for a neutral who loves watching great games of football, but not for a Fantasy Football player, as these are the hardest games to call.

From the top 4 teams, Arsenal have the best chance with a home game against Reading, Liverpool are away at Fulham which is not a really easy game for them, but it is easier than Chelsea’s away trip to Everton and Manchester United’s away trip to Blackburn Rovers.

I have managed to carve out this dream team that I think will be the highest scoring team this week:

ST - D.Ashton - West Ham United - VS Derby (Home)
ST - A.Alves - Middlesbrough - VS Bolton (Home)
ST - G.Agbonlahor - Aston Villa - VS Birmingham City (Home)
MD - F.Fabregas - Arsenal - VS Reading (Home)
MD - J.Barton - Newcastle United - VS Sunderland (Home)
MD - G.Barry - Aston Villa - VS Birmingham City (Home)
MD - S. Downing - Middlesbrough - VS Bolton (Home)
DF - J.Spector - West Ham United - VS Derby (Home)
DF - D. Wheater - Middlesbrough - VS Bolton (Home)
DF - W.Gallas - Arsenal - VS Reading (Home)
GK - S.Carson - Aston Villa - VS Birmingham City (Home)

There you go, a very rounded team that should score highly this week.

Post your opinions and picks below, I will try to help.

    hi admin,

    thats a nice team u picked,

    1. do u c almunia, or green having better chances than carson in clean sheet keeping cz mcfadden is kinda back?

    2. Arsenal’s title hopes are over, do u think they are up for thrashing reading?

    3. which match do u c as potential high scoring game?

    thanks

    These are good questions

    This gameweek could go off in all sorts of directions.

    Arsenal are seemingly out of the title race, will they sit back now? I dont think so, I think they will be out to prove a point this weekend and could score very highly.

    Almunia and Green were equal choices for keeper this week, as I could only pick one, I went for Carson, just because his name seemed to stand out at me this week.

    High scoring games, I would have to say:
    Middlesbrough VS Boltons
    Arsenal Vs Reading.

    Hope that helps.

    i just came across this site,its good help.i have made my changes this week, bringing in fabregas for ballack and a random one…..schwarter in goal(bora, possible clean sheet this week, and good money)

    cant decide on captain……i have put fabregas at moment, but theres always something about ronaldo tho,
    he scored 2 when they met at home earlier in season,

    can someone just clear my mind, hehe

    thanku.

    @ Dan
    Welcome to the site - Sign up to the rss feed to keep up to date.

    In terms of the captain, I always find it hard to take it away from Ronaldo, as he always pulls something out of the bag, but If i do take it away from him this week, it will be in favour of Fabregas.

    hi admin,

    i need some answers to these questions.

    what do you see happening in the newcastle and sunderland game since both teams are playing well?

    which 2 strikers should i put out of these options: adebayor or torres, defoe or ashley young?

  6. David Shaw on April 17th, 2008 5:56 pm

    @AJ
    Newcastle Vs Sunderland I have done for a draw.

    Adebayor and Young for the strikers.

    Hi Admin,

    I’ve tried to set up my team as you laid out but I’ve run out of cash (Yahoo). I’ve got 7.20 points left & I can’t afford Downing and Wheater.

    Any suggestions for a cheap midfielder and defender?

  12. David Shaw on April 18th, 2008 9:10 am

    @Randy
    Nice looking team, stick with it.

    @Spurs4Life
    In terms of defenders anyone from Middlesbrough, Arsenal, West Ham should be ok.

    As for midfielders, look at Aston Villa and Middlesbrough, they should score highly across the board.

  13. Randy on April 18th, 2008 12:57 pm

    Is spector going to start .. News has state that lucas neil is back in training for west ham and in line to start ? Just a concern or i would opt for grounds instead ..

  14. Will on April 18th, 2008 1:22 pm

    Hi Admin,
    I am selecting from Adebayor or Martins, please recommend which player I should pick?
    And, are Ljungberg & Skrtel still worth to buy?
    Thanks~

  15. David Shaw on April 18th, 2008 1:41 pm

    @Randy
    I believe Spector will start because Ferdinand is out and Faubert is still a doubt.

    @Will
    Adebayor
    Skrtel should do well this week.

  16. Bryan O'Connor on April 18th, 2008 3:12 pm

    hey, this is my first time posting a comment in this site.
    I just want to know whether paintsil will be featured in the match this week.
    Give me comments about Hleb and Gardner.
    I see that you, Mr.Shaw is keen in responding comments made by others. Keep up the good work.

  17. David Shaw on April 18th, 2008 3:34 pm

    @Bryan
    Paintsil could feature but it is not a guarentee, Spector will replace Ferdinand.

    Hleb could score well this week, not so keen on Gardner.

  18. Kate on April 18th, 2008 4:57 pm

    hi,

    last week you had Lampard in your team - but he didn’t play - what happened ?? i wasted 17 million on him !

    thanks.

  19. hannah on April 18th, 2008 5:18 pm

    hi thanks for all the previous help.
    another question: how come points are deducted from my total when i transfer a player who hasn’t played in my team but only ever been a substitute? does that mean i get points from subs?

  22. Thor on April 18th, 2008 10:26 pm

    I’m surprised you didn’t include Adebayor on your side. With nothing to play for, Arsenal won’t be resting players like Chelsea and Liverpool (I doubt Torres and Gerrard will be in action). I see Arsenal winning by three goals, at least.

    My two cents…..great website!
