Some days ago, we brought you news that due to the disastrous circumstances that have left an almost 90-year-old club that goes by the name of Valencia was going to offload a certain Spaniard by the name of David Villa in order to clear a pretty substantial debt that looms large, and has cast a shadow over the club?s future.
Now, we have some more news regarding this rumour. News of the World has now reported that Villa?s agent will be flying to Manchester, and in all probability proceed on a deal that will see this star switch his colours to a light shade of blue and call Eastlands home.
Initially, it was reported that Read Madrid was the frontrunner to sign this goal-scoring machine, but ended up signing Klass-Jan Huntelaar from Ajax for ?17 million instead. City, with their money, apparently decided to shell out the asking price of ?52 million so as to seal a deal into getting this big name for their games. Villa is said to have been offered a contract that will see him as the joint top earner in the Premier league, along with Robinho, at a whopping ?160,000 per week!
Also, it seems that David Villa has spoken about this, saying that he will stay with Valencia as long as he is wanted there. If the club decides to sell him, then he would look for a fresh challenge. It really must be heartbreaking for Villa since he has a contract that would see him play out the best of his days at his present club. To be committed to a club so as to put pen to paper and agree to stay there for six more years is no small thing. But, it will be very interesting to see where this piece of news leads?
