Transfer targets – Gameweek 8
Published by Ravin Daswani on September 30, 2009
The cornerstones of your team are obvious ? but how about the players that?ll put you over the top! Here are 5 options that should get you at least 5 pts this week:
Goalkeeper
Brian Jensen (4.2 mil) started the season with a bang, but his scores have been far lower recently because of away matches at Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham. However, Burnley is a far better team at home, and October could be an excellent month to bring Jensen into the lineup with three home games (Birmingham, Wigan and Hull City) on the schedule.
Defender
Managers looking for a spot start this weekend in defence need look no further than Birmingham?s Roger Johnson (4.5 mil). In fact, defensive players on both sides of the ball of this weekend?s Burnley-Birmingham could do very well indeed.
Midfielders
With the departure of Gareth Barry to Man City, the performances of James Milner (7.0 mil) have become increasingly integral to the success of Aston Villa this season. Villa?s game against Man City this weekend should be an exciting affair and look for Milner?s play to make the difference for the home fans.
Geovanni (5.8 mil) has steadily been losing value over the course of the season. However, if Hull City can manage to retain more possession and give this gifted goal scorer enough chances, he could start scoring decent points while rising in cost as well. In fact, Hull City?s schedule, starting with Wigan at home this weekend until Gameweek 13?s doubleheader, should see Geovanni?s form improve.
Forward
Louis Saha (7.1 mil) has been a major factor in Everton?s recent return to form. In fact, besides scoring two goals in Gameweek 6 and another one in Gameweek 7, Saha?s been awarded three bonus points in both matches respectively. With Everton hosting Stoke City this week and Wolves next week, look for Saha to continue putting up impressive numbers.
