Transfer targets - Gameweek 11
Published by Robert Nolan on October 30, 2009
The cornerstones of your team are obvious … but how about the players that’ll put you over the top! Here are 5 options that should get you at least 5 pts this week:
Goalkeeper
David James (4.8 mil) has two clean sheets in his last three matches. In fact, he has the best form of any goalkeeper during that span. Look for James to make it three clean sheets out of four when Wigan travels to Portsmouth, and help his side get back into the relegation battle.
Defender
John O’Shea (5.5 mil) has been a regular part of the Man U defence all season. With the Red Devils coming off a defeat to Liverpool, they’ll be looking to make amends this week. Blackburn, who lost 5-0 away to Chelsea last week, is visiting so O’Shea should be a good play.
Midfielder
Martin Petrov (6.7 mil) has had an excellent run of form of late, scoring a goal in three of Man City’s last four matches. Of course, City has a lot of options in midfield but this kind of production can’t be ignored. As a result, Petrov should continue to see playing time, and may well find success again at Birmingham this week.
Forwards
Carlton Cole (6.8 mil) put in a gutsy performance for West Ham at home to Arsenal last week. With a doubleheader for the Hammers this week (Sunderland away and Villa home) and the fact that Cole has played every minute this season, look for him to bring in the points.
Steven Fletcher (5.4 mil) has scored in consecutive home matches for Burnley. Burnley suffered their first home loss last week but fully realise that this week’s home encounter against Hull is a chance to retain momentum. With Fletcher starting to find goal, you could do far worse in attack this week.
