Netherlands vs Brazil was a clash between giant heavyweights of the beautiful game. Although both sides boast few superstars within their ranks, this game was filled with great anticipation.
Brazil was the favourites due to the Dutch?s very slow start where they scraped wins with poor performances. And when Robinho slotted in an early opener, the question was how many the Dutch would concede and not will they be able to come back.
However, managers with Wesley Sneijder in their side would have had no complaints. His cross was put in the net by Felipe Melo for an own goal. Then, moments later, Sneijder?s smart, sharp header from a Dirk Kuyt flick on made it 2-1 in a matter of minutes. Brazil was shell shocked. And to add insult to injury for Brazil and managers with him in their side, Melo?s day turned into a nightmare when he was sent off for a stamp on Arjen Robben. The Dutch held on for a historic win where they?re targeting to win the World Cup for the first time in their history.
Most managers would have had a team filled with a few Brazilians expecting them to ease past Netherlands and then Uruguay. Not to be. My advice for managers needing to change their side, I suggest bringing in a few Dutch as I fully back them to go to the final. Sneijder, Robben and goalie Maarten Stekelenburg would be good additions giving you valuable points.
Plus, Spain vs Paraguay could be a goal feast for hotshot striker David Villa so he must be a certainty in your side. Also, Xavi and Andres Iniesta could chip in with a goal or an assist so they should be in your side too.
Another nightmare could be Argentina vs Germany. This game is very hard to call as either side could win. That?s why I suggest avoiding transferring any players of these countries into your side as you may need to transfer them out immediately after the game as well as them facing an even trickier match against Spain potentially in the semi-finals. That?s why choosing Dutch players would be a much safer option.
Finally, an even shrewder piece of business is Diego Forlan. He is one of the highest points scorers as well as being relatively cheap. He scored again against Ghana. He could even score against Netherlands due to his strike rate and chances of playing in a more attacking role due to the suspension of partner in crime, Luis Suarez. However, it is very likely that Uruguay will not make it into the final and will likely be a wasted transfer.
